Washington, D.C., March 24, 2018 - Following Saturday's March for Our Lives, which drew hundreds of thousands of people to events across the nation, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence released the following statement:

"Today, Americans of all ages from every corner of our nation stood together to demand action against gun violence to protect the lives of our children. The sight of patriots in Washington, D.C. and across the country speaking out for change was more than inspiring. It was a sign that there has never been more energy and urgency behind the demand for sensible reform.

"The wisdom and courage demonstrated today by so many young people who suffered a horrific tragedy galvanized our nation. Today's March is a wake up call to members of Congress and candidates running for office that America has had more than enough and will vote accordingly in November.

"The Brady Campaign is immensely proud to have participated in today's events. We will continue to advocate forcefully for our three point plan that: (1) expands background checks to all gun purchases; (2) bans assault weapons and large capacity ammunition magazines; and (3) enables extreme risk protection orders to remove guns from those at risk to themselves and others.

"18 years ago, we stood with the Million Mom March in the largest national protest of gun violence in U.S. history. Today, we passed that title to the youth of America. We welcome a new generation to the fight, and we look forward to working with them through the midterms and beyond in this fight to save lives."

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
