Washington, D.C., November 6, 2018 - This evening, voters in Virginia’s 10th Congressional District ousted NRA favorite Rep. Barbara Comstock, electing Jennifer Wexton to Congress. The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, which had made VA-10 one of the organization’s nine priority districts in the 2018 midterms, congratulated Wexton on her hard-fought victory.

Martina Leinz, chapter president of the NOVA Chapter of the Brady Campaign, stated,

“We are delighted that voters have delivered a victory for gun safety in our community. For years, we’ve had a representative in Barbara Comstock who has cared more about placating the gun lobby than she has for the safety of her constituents. Now, we have a champion in Jennifer Wexton who will stand up for common sense measures to protect our community. Congratulations, Congresswoman-elect Wexton - we’re proud to stand with you tonight!”

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
