Brady Statement on Mass Shooting Following Denver Nuggets Game

At Least Nine Where Gunned Down While Celebrating the NBA Finals Win.

Washington, D.C., June 13, 2023 – Early this morning, at least nine people were wounded in a shooting in Denver while celebrating the Nuggets’ win in the NBA Finals. Brady, the country’s oldest gun violence prevention organization, released the following statement:

Kris Brown, president of Brady, said:

“This morning should have been full of celebration for the City of Denver, but instead the city is now stricken with the grief that follows a mass shooting.

“Americans should be free to celebrate the victory of their local sports teams without the fear of being shot. Make no mistake, this is a uniquely American crisis. Solving this crisis requires all people in power to speak up and act now. We need all those with platforms – from athletes to NBA executives, to elected officials and community leaders – to raise their voices in unison and to say enough is enough.

“The victims and their families remain present in our hearts as we hope for their swift recoveries.”
