At Least Two People are Dead and Dozens More Were Injured in Mass Shooting at a Baltimore Block Party.

Washington, D.C., July 2, 2023 – At least two people were killed and about 30 were injured in a mass shooting early this morning in Baltimore. Brady, the country’s oldest gun violence prevention organization, released the following statement:

Kris Brown, president of Brady, said:

“Another day, another weekend in America where we are waking up to news of a mass shooting. The tragic reality is the July 4th weekend is often our country’s deadliest peak in gun violence. Already, 2023 is on track to set the record for the highest number of mass shootings of any year in U.S. history.
“This Independence Day, multiple families will be in mourning because of a uniquely American crisis. America is the land of the free and the home of the brave, but we will never truly be free until we are free from the daily threat of gun violence. We are reaching a fevered pitch in America where the people’s demand for common-sense gun laws can no longer go unheard by those in power.
“Our hearts go out to those impacted by yet another horrific tragedy.”

Kris Brown, president of the country’s oldest gun violence prevention organization, is available for interview live, via phone, or Zoom, and can discuss:

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
